Arrivals from 7pm, dinner at 7:30pm

The 2012 dinner was at the Lymm Hotel and reached its limit in early December.

Pauline Welsby again organised this Annual Event.  She deserves our thanks!

Introduction

Every year Spectrum Striders hold an Awards Dinner Dance.  In recent years, the evening has been held just after Christmas, as a meal before would be much more expensive before Christmas and in the rush to get everything ready for Christmas Day adding a dinner dance in to crowded schedules is just unwanted extra stress for us all, so we believe after Christmas is best.

The evening starts with arrivals from 7pm.  Please remember we will have 100+ people, so arrive with enough time to get a drink at a busy bar and find your table.  The meal is served at 7:30pm.  After the meal, there will be a speech from the Chairman, presentation of the Club Championship trophies, awards, and Club Standards certificates.  There is then a disco until 1:00am.

As usual, the County cross-country Championships (Cheshire's at Winsford & Merseyside at St Helens) are during the afternoon before the do, so get your hairdressers booked!

Cost & Booking Details

The 2012 Awards & Dinner Dance cost will be £22 each for a club member and for your partner, and £24 if you wish to bring any additional non-Club guests.

As usual, Pauline allocates table places so if you know who you want to sit with please let Pauline or Julian know.  We may hit the fire limit so please book early.

When you book, please send a cheque for the full amount payable to Pauline Welsby (not to the running club please) before 1st December please.  (Julian will also be pleased to accept bookings, but still make the cheque payable to Pauline...)

Don't forget to include your menu choices when booking, also include any special dietary requirements.  Please don't give us cash as it's impossible to know who it came from!

Slightly reduced price rooms may be available if you want to stay the night.  Currently the Bed and Breakfast rate is £32.50 per person, sharing a double or twin-bedded room.

Menu

When booking, please specify what you would like with your cheque and clarify who is having what.  Pauline will keep a record of your choices and it will appear on the reverse of the place setting, so you can forget it once you have ordered!

Starters:

• Cream of winter vegetable soup finished with sour cream and snipped chives
• Beetroot cured Scottish salmon with ‘Rye sticks‘and caviar speckled creme fraiche
• Honey roast ham and pineapple terrine, foccacia bread and homemade brown sauce
• Duo of Melon, Ginger Mousse, Forest Fruit Compote

Main course:

• Butter basted turkey with smoked bacon chipolatas and cranberry stuffing
• Braised Scottish beef with roast root vegetables and Port jus
• Pumpkin ravioli with sage butter and parmesan rocket salad
• Chef choice of a fish dish such as: Poached Fillet of Smoked Haddock, Mustard and Cream Cheese Soft Polenta

Dessert:

• Traditional Christmas pudding with brandy sauce and cherry coulis
• White and dark chocolate mousse with forest berries
• Vanilla brulee cheesecake with mulled wine syrup and sugar crusted tuille
• Selection of Local Cheeses and Biscuits

Followed by:

• Freshly brewed coffee and mince pies in the Lounge
• Speeches
• Club Championship trophies presentations
• Standards Certificates presentations
• Disco, 1am finish

Drinks

• The Club will pay for a bottle of red wine and a bottle of sparkling water on every dinner table.  (Almost none of the white wine provided in previous years was drunk and it went to waste.)
• The usual range of drinks (soft drinks, beers, spirits etc.) are available for purchase at the bar.
