Striders Family Track Day

Sat 10-Jul-2010 12:30pm to about 4:30pm

Meet at 12:30pm at Victoria Park Track, aiming to start the first race promptly at 1pm.

Each July Spectrum Striders hold a family track day where all the family can take part in a range of track events such as the Mile, 400m, 800m, 3000m and also long jump.  You can do some races or do them all.  Remember, this is not just for the faster runners.  Everyone is welcome to have a go.  The venue is the Victoria Park track, where we have our regular Tuesday track training.

The young kids race in between the adults races and get sweets after taking part.  Lots of partners and parents just come to watch with a picnic.  We occasionally have guests from Warrington AC, Warrington Road Runners and Helsby RC.

We are looking to include some new games for the kids this year.  If you have ever wanted to have a go at jumping into a sand pit, then here’s your chance, although be prepared to be beaten by a 12 year old!  It is also a great opportunity for your kids to see what mum and dad do each Tuesday and Thursday.  Maybe they will be inspired too.

Don’t forget to bring a folding chair or blanket, drinks, a picnic and sun screen to the track.  Hopefully you won't need a waterproof!  The toilets and showers will be open.

To round the day off, Julian will be hosting a barbeque for everyone from around 5pm at his house in Locking Stumps.  Julian will provide kebabs & sausages.  Please bring some beer, wine or soft drinks.  Also, can you bring along a sweet, a salad or a savoury.  Please let Julian know what you will be bringing so we don't end up with 20 potato salads!
