Due to major work at the Victoria Park track, it is unlikely we will train there at all on Tuesday evenings in 2013.

Tuesday training
Meet at 6:45pm at Birchwood Community High School

• Various sessions in the
   3 groups, slower, medium and
   fast, under the supervision
   of qualified coaches

Thursday training
Meet at 6:45pm at Birchwood Community High School

Muster run along traffic-free
   paths in Birchwood Forest
   Park and Pestfurlong Hill
   (7 miles).
• Shorter runs for beginners

Saturday training
Track sessions at Victoria Park, usually 9:30am, occasionally 4pm (check at the club on Thursdays to confirm times / details).

• Sessions are agreed on the
  day and without formal
  coaching supervision.
• Popular with the fastest and
   slowest groups, but sessions
   can be varied to suit all club
   members who turn up.

Sunday training
Please check at the club on Thursdays to confirm times / details.

• Long run (10-15 miles) for
   medium paced runners: 9am
   from Grappenhall. Sometimes
   longer for marathon training.
• Fast paced run (5-15 miles):
   usually 8am from Padgate.

New To Running - N2R

If you are new to running or are returning to running after a long period away, we have a scheme called "New To Running" (N2R).

N2R is designed to support runners allowing them to build up fitness, mileage and/or pace at a rate that is suitable for the individual.

Duties

  • Welcome new members to the running club
  • Direct them towards either Steve Pickford of one of the coaches
  • Ensure that no new runner is left by themselves during training sessions
  • If required run a shortened training session with them as directed by Steve or a coach

Winter training

• Flat interval sessions
   or hill repetitions.
• Option of a short run without
   speedwork for the
   beginners' group.
• Option of the "Albert"
   muster run

Thursday training
Meet at 6:45pm at Birchwood Community High School.

Muster run along pavements
   on local roads with street
   lighting (6-7 miles).
• Shorter runs for beginners.

Saturday training
Cross Country sessions

• Usually at Birchwood Forest
   Park, meet at the Ranger
   Centre at 9:30am.
• Sessions are agreed on the
   day and without formal
   coaching supervision
• Sessions are varied to suit all
   club members who turn up.
