This was race 2 (of 7) in the 2012 Cheshire County Road Race Grand Prix, run by the Cheshire County AA. 

No doubt about the distance this year – Chris's Garmin said 5.00 miles!

2012 Race information

From the race web site:

"The measured race route uses gently undulating country lanes, and is generally downhill for the first two miles, before a short climb at halfway eases to a gradual rise. Most of the last mile back to the finish on the playing fields is flat. 

The route has been changed slightly for 2012.  The start has been relocated to give a faster getaway, and the on-field distance at the finish reduced."

There are more road closures for 2012.  The bulk of the course is on the same rural lanes as in previous years.

Race venue:  Cheshire County Sports Club, Upton, Chester, CH2 1PR (this is the postcode for Satnav.)

Start/finish:  3 mins walk away from the parking area, over the footbridge over the A41.  Runners must use the footbridge to cross the A41.

Entry fee:  £6 + £2 on day (subject to race limit of 500).  Only on-line entry is available.

Changing, showers and toilets are at the Sports Club, enter via the sports entrance at the rear of the building.

2011 race on Wednesday 6-Apr-2011 at 7pm

There were 392 finishers, last finisher in 65:16.  Full results are on the West Cheshire AC web site.

Several members believe that the course in 2011 was about 0.1 miles long (in the last mile).

Despite this, Christine Ramsdale broke her own Club FV60 record (52:55 set at Preston in Feb 2010) by 3½ mins with a new time of 49:25.
