Thanks to Julian for his usual organising and to Les Hewitt for looking after the numbers and taking times on the day.

Spectrum men were 6th team out of 15 teams (6 men to count).  Spectrum vet men were 4th vet team out of 17 teams (4 men to count).  The ladies did not have a complete team.

[Janet Robertson's Helsby RC vet ladies were 2nd vet team out of 7 teams.  Steve Burthem's Warrington AC team were 3rd senior mens team.]

The men's course was approx 7.1 miles (11.4k) according to Chris' GPS.

Well done to Jordan Jones (Warrington AC) who was 3rd U11 Boy and U11 Boys team gold medallist.

Race information

The championships were hosted by Vale Royal AC at Knights Grange, Grange Lane, Winsford, CW7 2PT.

Eligibility

All competitors must have been born within the current Cheshire county boundaries (including Halton & Warrington) OR have been resident in Cheshire for 9 months prior to the date of competition and MUST NOT have competed in another county’s champs since 1-Oct-2011.

For all club competitors, club vests must be worn.

Teams

Senior men 6 to count, Vet men 4 to count, all other races 3 runners to count.

Athletes MUST run for their first claim club.

Thanks to all of the Striders who helped at the Championships at Birchwood Forest Park, taping the course, marshalling, car parking etc.

Special thanks to Steve Pickford (chief marshal despite his heavy cold!), Les Hewitt (produced all of the on-the-day results) and to Julian Spencer for the event organising & all of the other things he always does!

"'Great course' I heard some blokes comment warming up alongside my efforts in the ladies’ race!  My thoughts exactly.

Wouldn’t have been half as much fun (!!) without some great (choice) encouragement.  Good job I’d run the course three times – had double vision on the 4th lap.  What’s that bloke’s name again who tapes the path through the swamp?  Still wondering where my feet are.

Looking forward to doing it all again in February – or is it March (must be numbness in the head..).  Best Wishes to the flashy vest gang!

28 finishers, last finisher in 42:58.

These championships were rescheduled because of the weather from their original date of 9-Jan-2010.  Striders did not have enough runners for a men's or women's team.
