A new coaching framework was produced in 2004 by the then Club Coaching Co-ordinator Tony McCarthy. A summary of the document follows. For the complete document (in Microsoft Word .DOC format), please click here. For further information, please contact Tony.
I have been asked by Julian Spencer to undertake the role of club coaching coordinator. This has been discussed at club committee meetings and notionally there is support for me to do this. This proposal outlines my ideas on how I would carry out this role.
Recently there has been an increased activity in coaching within the club, both from existing coaches and new coaches. We have also seen a number of members, with varying abilities, achieve improved results through specific coaching outside the traditional coaching regime. We now have an excellent opportunity to capitalise on this situation and integrate it into a more collective and structured coaching process directed at individual performance improvement for all club members based on their needs.
The 4 key objectives of this process are:
1. To introduce a coaching process framework that will deliver continual and consistent performance improvement to club members based on their needs
2. To use coaching to increase an individual’s level of performance from current levels identified through annual goal setting.
3. To establish individual personal development plans for members so they can plan their progress and have support and commitment to their longer term development.
4. To focus on annual goals for club team events and provide prioritised specific coaching.
