Striders at the end of the Cheshire Canal Ring relay run in 2013  Welcome to Spectrum Striders Running Club

We are a friendly running club based in Birchwood in Warrington, Cheshire since 1983. We organise the long-established Birchwood 10k road race and several other races.

We have runners of all ability -  people who just run for fun, and people who compete at a professional level every week. We all share a common love of running.

So whether you're an established runner, new to running, or looking to improve your fitness, we'd love you to join us!

Additional Runs over the Christmas Period

Message from Dan Peers

We have a couple of extra festive fell / trail informal social runs this year. Trail / fell shoes will be ideal. These are often races on the Fell or MT champs list so great for members wanting to become familiar.

When What Distance Meet
22-Dec 09:20 Rivington Pike ~4 miles Rivington Hall barn car park BL6 7RU
26-Dec 09:30 Moel Famau   Bwlch Pen Barras, Mold, Denbighshire CH7 5SH
27-Dec 09:20 Frodsham Hill ~7 miles Ring o Bells pub car park WA6 6BS
30-Dec 09:20 Parbold Hill ~6.5 miles Farmer's Arms L40 3SL

As usual with fell / MT, there will probably be coffee and food involved somewhere post run if we have time.
Expect 'small' hills, uneven terrain, mud and cold weather, dress appropriately and bring multiple layers. A change of clothes post run so your not driving home in damp gear always bodes well.

Traditional Delamere Santa Run - Sunday 9th December 9:30am

Message from Michael Bradley

We will be holding our Traditional Santa Run in Delamere Forest on Sunday 9th December at 9:30, as usual we'll meet in
the visitor center car park - CW8 2JD. It takes about 45 minutes from Warrington, be aware there's a charge if you
park at the visitor center.

There are several marked routes ranging from 7 to 1.5 miles, most of us will run the 7 mile route but lots of options for
longer runs if you wish, the pace will be similar to Thursday training and we always muster.

Usually road shoes are fine as the surface is a forest road. There will be some people walking, bringing their children and dogs so please don't think it's just for runners, bring the family. After the run/walks there are two cafes for a well deserved breakfast.

Only one rule, Santa hats - or similar Christmas wear is just about compulsory

Any questions just see me (Michael Bradley) at the club.

Spectrum Fun 5k Hangover Handicap – Sunday 6th January 2019 10.00am

What better way to shake off the January blues and/or your Award night hangover than with a fun 5k relay?
Runners will be paired up based on predicted times – fastest with slowest. Each pair sets off in opposite directions around an easy road-based loop, when you meet your partner, turn and run back the way you have come. The winning pair must cross the line together – but most pairs should finish close together if we get the timings right.

The run will be in Newton-le-Willows, on an easy loop that you cannot get lost on – no runner is likely to run further than 5k. Everybody welcome.
Meet at 10.00am at Trebaron Garden Centre, 174 Southworth Road, Newton-le-willows, WA12 OBS, where we can go afterwards for tea, cake or breakfast…
To take part, please email Elly Roberts with your anticipated 5k time (this should perhaps be your PB…) – it will help to have an idea of pairs beforehand.
Fancy dress has been suggested…
