Fancy dress is preferred, although you can get away with a Santa hat.  Also, you get some sweets from Santa at the summit!

Category:  BS, 4 miles (6.4k), 750ft (229m) climb

Registration:  Marl Pits Sports Centre, Newchurch Road, Rawtenstall, BB4 7SN.

Start/finish:  About 0.7 miles away in Hill End Road, off the A681 (Bacup Road).

Entry fee:  £3 on the day

Fell Running equipment

From the FRA Handbook:

Competitors should arrive at races prepared to carry any or all of the following equipment:

- Windproof whole body cover
- Other body cover appropriate for the weather conditions
- Map & compass suitable for navigating the course
- Whistle
- Emergency food (for long races)
