This Birchwood Forest Park x/c is the 6th and final race in the winter North West Sunday Cross Country League.
It is at the usual venue in Birchwood Forest Park and is organised by Spectrum Striders Running Club. For Satnav users, please note that there is no postcode for the race venue, the Forest Park Ranger Centre. (The postcode sometimes quoted is of the nearby Risley Moss Visitor Centre.)
There are basic changing rooms, showers & toilets at the Ranger Centre, a bit limited as they are only meant for two football teams.
Don't forget - it is a rule that you wear your club vest in this league.

In recent years, we have had an extra race before the main race for little kids (age 4 to roughly 11 years old). They only run about 800 metres. The kids all get a few sweets and a drink at the end. Parents are encouraged to run alongside their little ones.
We would love to see some other Club’s kids join in the fun. We want to encourage the next generation of runners. If you know if any kids definitely want to do this short run, we would appreciate knowing rough numbers so that we ensure that we have enough kids prizes. Please tell your cross country secretary.
We will be using the same 4 lap course we have used since 2008, with minor variations. It was 5.16 miles (8.3k) in 2011 as measured by a GPS. Click on the lower small map on the left side of this page to see a larger map of the race route.
(The route for the 2010/11 Cheshire Cross Country Championships was based on this route but with minor variations.)
The details of the venue for refreshments have not been confirmed at time of writing but we expect it to be the same as in recent years.
This is about 2 miles away at Birchwood Community High School, WA3 7PT. (The High School is on the opposite side of the Birchwood Shopping Centre from the start of the Birchwood 10k.)

Results for previous years x/c races in this league are available on Steve Saunders' web site (only tested with Internet Explorer). Steve's web site also has race information sheets for most of the races in the league.
Please consider helping at the Cross Country. We will need marshals and other helpers, both at the race and at refreshments. Thank you!
Please try to run & support the club teams if you can. You don't need to register for races in this league, just turn up and run! Remember, even if you are not a counting runner, you can still push other clubs runners down the finishers list and increase the other club's score, so you do make a difference to the result. It's free to enter and you get free butties & a cup of tea after!
However it would help if you would let Julian or the Cross Country Secretary know if you are intending to come so that we have a good idea of numbers as we need to ensure that we have a full ladies and men's team.
