This area is used for the North West Sunday Cross Country League race each year. It was also used for the Cheshire County Cross Country Championships in 2007 & 2011.
The course below has been used each year starting in 2008. The race distance in 2011 was 5.16 miles (8.3k) as measured by GPS.
The race starts at the top of the grass bank (at the green marker arrow on the map). The route then goes alongside the football pitch and passes the finish (the red marker), followed by four complete laps.
The course is entirely on grass and wooded trails, apart from where it crosses tarmac footpaths in several places. The bunkers are quite steep-sided and the underfoot conditions are often wet and muddy. Studded footwear or cross country spikes are usually best.

The route for the Cheshire Championships was based on the route above but with minor variations. The start was on the flat next to the corner of the football pitch. The lap took runners up and down the grass bank as part of the lap, and there were a few other minor route variations.
There were different numbers of laps for the various Championship age classes, including small laps for some younger age classes. The small lap cut the lower left corner (shown with the blue arrow) and stayed on the edge of the playing fields.
