5k start at 4:30pm, fun run at 5:15pm

This is race 4 (of 7) in the 2012 Cheshire County Road Race Grand Prix, run by the Cheshire County AA.

Introduction

The race is in Hollins Green, in the far east of Warrington, and was established in 2002.  It is named after Peter Lowe, a Spectrum Striders club member who was killed in a road accident whilst out running nearby in January 2002.  The race is run on an accurately measured 5k road course.

Starting in 2011, there is now a fun run which is approx 1k or 0.6 miles.

The 5k race is run under UK Athletics Rules, UKA Race Licence 2012-103465.  The minimum age for runners is 13 years old on race day.

The 5k race is the second race in the "North Cheshire 5k Grand Prix" series of road races (not to be confused with the "Cheshire County Road Race Grand Prix").  More information on the 5k Series is available on this web site.

We have opted for a late Saturday afternoon start so that you can use the race to relax after doing your shopping and gardening!

Start times

The 5k race will start promptly at 4:30pm.

The fun run will start when the 5k race has finished, but will start no earlier than 5:15pm.

Car parking

Parking is available behind the Community Centre and on local roads in the village.  Parking in the village is limited and it would be appreciated if you could share cars if possible.

Race Route

The race starts in the centre of the village close to the Black Swan pub and the Village cross.  There is a small loop within the village before it heads out towards Glazebrook, returning to Hollins Green along quiet country lanes.  The finish is in centre of the village, near to the start.

How to enter

Pre-entry is by post.  Click here to download an entry form (in PDF format).  The closing date for receipt of postal pre-entries is 26-May-2012.  Please enclose a stamped addressed envelope for return of your number and race information sheet.

There is a race limit of 450.  

With your race number, you will receive a race information sheet which includes a race location map and other race details.  If you want to download a copy of this, please click here.  [This information sheet has not yet been updated for 2012 but is expected to be largely the same as for 2011.]

Entry on the day will be available, subject to the race limit, at an extra charge (see the entry form for details).  If you want to enter on the day, please try to arrive early as it can get very busy in Race HQ.  It would help if you could bring a completed race entry form and the right money (or a cheque).

The race can also be entered as part of the North Cheshire 5k Grand Prix series of races.  Until the 5k race start, you can still enter the series.  Again, it would help if you could bring a completed 5k Series entry form and the right money (or a cheque).

Refund policy

If you have entered the race and are unable to run for whatever reason, like most races we are unable to offer refunds.  Also, we are not able to defer your race entry to the following year.

However we do allow you to transfer your race entry to another runner.

Transfer Of Race Entries

Spectrum Striders will allow runners to transfer their race number to another runner provided they submit a completed entry form which is clearly marked:

"Transfer runner number XXXX from previous runner "

Please give as many details of the previous runner as possible; including "age on race day" and sex. We want to make absolutely sure we transfer the entry from the right person. The entry form for the new runner MUST be completed as normal with age, sex etc.

We would much prefer all changes to get to us before the closing date, but we will accept changes on the day at Race HQ.  If you want to do this, please arrive early!

We will not charge a transfer fee to do this unless we incur a cost. We want to see the right names against the runners in the results.

Results

Race results are usually available to view at Race HQ after the prize presentation.  We aim to have results available to view on this web site on the evening of the race.

Prizes

We offer prizes to the first three finishers as well as to veteran categories and the men's and women's teams.  Under normal circumstances, we aim to have the prize presentation before 6pm, so long as there are no major problems in producing the race results.
