Introduction & Race Route

Introduction

The Peter Lowe Memorial Hollins Green 5K Road Race is a race event in Hollins Green and Glazebrook in the far east of Warrington. It was first established in 2002.

The race is named after Peter Lowe, a club member who was killed in a road accident whilst out running nearby in January 2002. Peter's wife thought that the race would be a fitting memorial especially as it is so close to the places that Peter used to love running. The idea of naming the race in this way came independently from 3 grass-roots members of the Club which shows the caring ethos of Spectrum Striders.

The time of the race is unusual. We have opted for late Saturday afternoon so that you can use the race to relax after doing your shopping and gardening. After the race, there's a free hot meal for all pre-entered runners in the Black Swan pub.

The race is an accurately measured 5k course, run under UKA Rules, minimum age 13 years.

This race is the second race in the North Cheshire 5k Grand Prix series of road races.  More information is available here on this web site and on the Altrincham & District AC web site.

Race Route

The race begins in the centre of the village close to the Black Swan pub and the village cross. There is a small loop within the village before it heads out towards Glazebrook, returning to Hollins Green along quiet country lanes.
