Introduction
From a low key start in 1993, the Forest Park Ladies 5K has steadily grown in popularity with a healthy growth in the number of entries in recent years. It began as a way of encouraging more local women to take up running and perhaps to join Spectrum Striders, but now the event also attracts club runners from across the region.
The race is popular with all ranges of abilities, from experienced athletes of county standard to beginners. This can be seen from the wide range of finishing times, from under 18 mins to over 50 mins.
The race is run under UKA Rules, minimum age 13 years.
Race Route
The race follows an almost totally traffic free course along parkland paths. It starts in Birchwood Forest Park and follows Birchwood Brook Linear Park, before passing the railway station and going up Birchwood Boulevard, the only road section of the course. It then joins Oakwood Gate path, passing the pond and the walled garden before crossing Oakwood Gate bridge and following the main path back to the park to finish in the Forest Park field. It is almost completely flat, with just two small hills approaching footbridges, one of which the route crosses.

We offer prizes to the first three finishers as well as to veteran categories and the first team. In addition, we give flowers to all finishers.

- M62 to Junction 11 (between the M6 and Manchester)
- Follow A574 Birchwood Way (signed to Birchwood & Warrington East)
- After 3/4 mile at roundabout take 1st exit (left) on to Moss Gate (signed to Gorse Covert, Risley Moss)
- After 1/4 mile at small roundabout take 4th exit (right) into Birchwood Forest Park car park
