The 5K fun run was arranged as a charity fundraising event for Red Nose Day 2001 for local companies in Birchwood. The event was not organised by the club, although some club members were involved.
The route was the same as the Forest Park Ladies 5K Race, alongside Birchwood Brook, past the station and on to Birchwood Boulevard, along the path to Oakwood Gate, over the bridge and back into the Forest Park. There were over 100 finishers.
