Golborne 10K, Mon 7th May 2001
We believe that despite being advertised as a "10K Race" and with the usual £1 fee being charged for unattached runners (implying that the race is under UKA Rules and is therefore accurately measured and certified) the course might well have been significantly short. Most of our runners indicated that they ran about 2-3 mins faster than expected, Brian ran 5½ mins faster than a 10K two weeks earlier.

Report from Andy:
A lovely evening and a great turnout – the best since 1996 – this handicap had something for everyone. With guest runners from Warrington AC, it was expected to be tough at the sharp end. However, the youngest man in the field, Peter Burnett, took the honours for fastest man. Fastest lady and overall winner was Janet Redpath, with the fairer sex monopolising the first three places. Many people ran the event for the first time and several who had run before recorded PB’s, most notably Janet Redpath and Anne Hewitt. After the race we retired to the Tennis Centre for refreshments and the presentation (The Silver Birch being refurbished) and rounded off the evening with a short quiz from Martin Dugdale. A most enjoyable evening.
