The race was run once again in appallingly wet conditions on the reverse of the normal route with a much livelier stream than normal, followed by a steep climb.

After winning 1st vet team for 4 years in succession, the old dogs of running (Dave Soiuthern with former Striders Mervyn Ward and Dave Carrington) won first place overall beating all senior teams by a good margin.
The first all Striders team home was 6th overall and 4th vets team with Andy Garnett, Bernard Riley and Kenny Forster in 66.50. Bernard enjoyed the wee climb up the steps in his first visit to the tough team race. Next time, try counting the number of steps! Bernard promised to return next year.
Next Striders team were Geoff Wilson, Janet Robertson and Barry Allman who were 16th in 73.41, while Rob McHarry sauntered round with two ladies who took a fancy to him on the night in an easy time of 84.10. Jennie should not let him out on his own....
