Beginners Training Initiative

Starts Tuesday 2nd April 2019

Are you a complete beginner and do you want to start running? Were you a runner in the past or have you been injured and are coming back? Then our Spring Training Group may be just the thing for you! Our next  Spectrum Striders Beginners Training Initiative runs from the start of April.

The training will take place on the following days:
Tuesdays 7pm: Victoria Park, Latchford, Warrington.
Thursdays 7pm: Birchwood High School.
Saturdays 9am: We will support and encourage you at the parkrun held at Victoria Park Latchford, Warrington.

The coaching is available to men and women. It is aimed at complete beginners and novice runners. The course is completely free and you will receive coaching from UKA qualified coaches.

In addition to parkruns, held nationally every Saturday, you may wish to consider our 5k races: Birchwood Brook 5k and Hollins Green 5k in June and our Ladies Only 5k in July (details here)

Further Information

If you have not exercised for some time or have any health problems, we would recommend that you consult your doctor before commencing any form of exercise.

At the end of the training scheme, the group of runners may wish to join the club and merge with the Improvers group on a Tuesday.

We offer a 5k distance on our Thursday runs alternatively, on advice from your coach, you could join the main Club run.  There are also various groups which run on a Sunday.

If you are already a Club member and are looking for a way of easing yourself back into running, this may be the ideal opportunity.  You will be able to get back into the routine of running at the Club sessions without having the pressure of running on the main Club runs.  You will be able to build up your confidence and lengthen your runs slowly so that in the future you should be able to join in with the Club sessions.

Please note If you have not exercised for some time or have any health problems, we would recommend that you consult your doctor before commencing any form of exercise.

Remember: Linda and John Owen would welcome anyone from the club who could help or perhaps act as running buddies for some of the beginners.
